"Blood test unit"

About: Chase Farm Hospital

Parking was difficult as the disabled phone was disabled too. I had to go to the highlands wing with my badge then return back to the car. Some good signs for the blood test unit at first but then none. there were a few other people getting lost with me.

I asked a harassed looking hospital worker where to go. The poor person must have been asked the same question a lot recently. Blood test centre full to the brim with testers coming from Hertfordshire, Edgware, Barnet as well as Enfield. No chairs left. So sat on the floor next to a bin and the sink. I waited for 2 hours. In that time the room filled up even more. It. Got hotter and hotter at first I thought it was me but an elderly man collapsed. I had to alert the receptionist as they stared at their phone. I asked if the air con was on and they turned it on. The windows didn't look like they could be opened. I asked if there were any more chairs, they said no and went back to their phone. I did get a seat after an hour on the floor. The person taking my blood was very rough and managed to put the needle through my vein into my tissues which was very painful. That has never happened before. Apparently, chase is the last drop in centre and will be made into appointment only once their computers arrive. But we will have to wait 2 weeks for a blood test. After fasting I was looking forward to my usual lunch at the wonderful cafe run by volunteers to find that they weren't allowed to make them anymore due to health and safety rules. Not once have I been harmed by a fresh tuna and cucumber roll!

Sorry to hear about your experience. We would like to look into this further so we would be grateful if you could get in touch with our PALS department on bcfpals@nhs.net. Thank you.
