"the staff were mostly friendly ..."

About: Countess Of Chester Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

the staff were mostly friendly and hospital seemed to be clean

What could be improved

i was a patient in A&E the nurse practioner that assesed me had a hygiene problem which was not a good first impression and did not wash his hands before assesing my foot. whilst I was waiting for the doctor i noticed that the senior nurses were under great pressure from the matrons to prevent breeches and people were being "clicked" through to different areas of the department before they came to the four hr breach time. What a fiddle! They were more concerned about so called breeches than proper nursing care. And this was all quite evident for all to hear! There was a heavily pregnant nurse on duty who looked fit to collapse and generally the nurses in light blue looked under huge amounts of pressure.

Anything else?

confidentiality...there was not only a revolving screen on the wall displaying everyones name but on the white board peoples names were on display and what was wrong with them...I could also hear most discusions behind other patient curtains when they were being assessed. This made me feel most uncomfortable and embarrassed.
