"We've really enjoyed attending"

About: Ladybrook Children's Centre

(as a parent/guardian),

I started bringing my child to the Sommersall Street 2 - 3's, when we moved to the area. We have really enjoyed attending and it has helped us both to settle in and make friends. It has been especially valuable in helping me to meet and talk to other parents of children with AEN/SEN, something I hadn't previously had.

When we started coming my child needed speech & language support (still does). The staff were very helpful and supportive, giving advice & ideas, getting and teaching me makaton signs, sorting the referral for sure start toddler talk and then moving us to the closer one. They also talked me through he hospital speech & language therapy process.

The activities, songs and staff have been great for encouraging my child to talk and I am very grateful to them.

Thank you for sharing your story. It sounds like you have accessed many things with your child to encourage his speech and language which is great to read. I am also pleased that the staff have been supportive and helped you through the journey. It can be very tough and feel isolating when you have a child with SEN, however it sounds like you have been able to use the sessions to meet and talk to other parents, which is excellent.

Thank you again
