I suffered intense emotional abuse from my husband towards the end of a lengthy marriage. This affected my mental health and the health of my children, despite being young adults. I was referred to Right Steps at a very low time in my life, having little fight left, very low self esteem and no confidence whatsoever. I was referred by my GP, in a very negative state of mind and reluctantly embarked on a course of CBT.
Wow, what can I say, it turned my life around. Its not a quick fix and probably doesnt make much impact straight away, but it teaches you how to deal with all the crap that life throws at you. Since then I have picked myself up, brushed myself down. Due to the CBT I gained enough self esteem to finally divorce, eventually met someone else and re-married. I know that sounds like a fairy tale ending, but believe me it was a bumpy ride. However, my point is that sometimes taking a step back, re-evaluating your life and gaining the strength through counselling, I have finally found happiness and contentment and actually love myself as much as my husband loves me. Go on go for it......you deserve to be happy.
