I had to visit the A&E on the 16th September due to 111 saying I needed to be seen as I had extreme pain and was going to send an ambulance out on which I said my husband would be able to take me !!! I went to the BRI around 7pm and when I entered it was busting at the seams
I gave my details and symptoms to reception and went to take a seat. I was in extreme pain and felt I was going to pass out I noticed nobody was at the triage desk, so my husband went to ask reception how long it would take as I felt faint and kept vomiting with the pain. Reception said to knock on the door of cubicle 1 where a nurse popped their head out didn't give my husband time to speak and said 'am busy take a seat with the rest of them '
At this stage my husband said we would have to go to Calderdale as it was ridiculous the amount of people and the rudeness of the staff. He explained to reception we were going to Calderdale.
Once at Calderdale I was assessed and put straight into a cubicle where they took blood straight away , I was give IV antibiotics and pain relief and fluids as I had an infection in my blood also my heart rate was tachycardia!
I never call the NHS as I think on a whole they do a great job but on this occasion I feel I the BRI was like a cattle market with no structure and nobody listening to the patients, I understand nurses are busy but they should still listen. Things need to change.
"Not happy"
