"Not 100% happy"

About: Russells Hall Hospital

I had my first baby , at this hospital on 7th July.

It was emergency c-section,because she was breech.

The staff was lovely in the operation room. But didn't get any suport from widwifes to show me how to breastfeed my baby especialy because she had tongue tie and short chin.

They was just saying to practice , but what to practice when i didn't know what i was doing , i did ask for help, they did show me once, for a second and that's it.

Never mind, i do regret a lot , but i can't change nothing now .

Thank you, Jo, for taking the time to give us feedback about your experience of our Maternity Unit. Let us first congratulate you on the birth of your first baby. All new mums should be given support to breastfeed their babies, particularly if a baby has tongue tie, and so we are really disappointed to hear that you did not receive the breastfeeding support you needed. All midwives and support staff working in our Maternity Unit receive breastfeeding training so they can provide mothers with the feeding support and guidance needed. We can only apologise if this was not your experience. We have passed your comments onto the matron and specialist midwife for infant feeding who have raised with their staff the importance of supporting new mums in learning to breastfeed.
