"My experience of Day Surgery"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford)

Tues 29 Sept I was due to have my thyroid removed in the Channel Day Ward.Unfortunately whilst the Consultant was checking the overall scan thye found I had a lump on my left breast.. They decided that it would probably be safer not to operate. They very kindly spoke to the person who is in charge of breast surgery so that I could be seen as soon as possible. I can not praise the Consultant and all the nurses on duty at the time enough. They were brilliant.and so caring..

As my husband was not there when I was told, the Consultant took the time to come out and explain everything they had told me to them on their arrival. They were very sensative and kind, also apologetic that it had not been picked up before.

I quite understood, as they were concentrating on my thyroid, which is quite large on the right hand side.

My name is Mrs Anita Lowe of Folkestone, and I am 75 years old.
