"Contacting neurosurgery"

About: St Bartholomew's Hospital

I was told last week that I will have major brain surgery and made an appointment this week. I got called this morning (day before appointment) to cancel because consultant is off. My partner and I are beside ourself. We had arranged family to take days off so they could attend and help me make this very difficult decision that would be followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy. After 4 days of trying to get in touch with the neurosurgery team, I get through and I am told that I'm not his secretary and proceeds to give me a number that nobody answers. I ask for an email. I am told we don't have one and is trying to get me off the phone asap. The lack of compassion is not what concerns me, the fact that I practically beg for her to get the other secretary to call me back. The nonchalant manner of the secretary is to be expected but my major complaint is how do I get in touch with my medical team????
