What I liked
Right from the moment I entered A&E, the level of care was way higher than I expected. I was seen by the Triage nurse within 10 minutes, and taken to a cubicle within 15 minutes. Tests were done within an hour, and within 3 hours I was admitted and taken to a side room on the MAU ward.
The staff in the MAU ward were all friendly, caring and couldn't do enough to help you. They made regular checks throughout the night, and would provide me with food and drink at any time.
On my second day, I had to have a bone marrow sample taken from me. The doctor and nurse were so reassuring and supportive even though I found the procedure hell.
I was transferred to a main ward later on that day. Again, I can't say a bad thing about anyone working on Ward 4 would do all they could to make me as comfortable as possible. The overnight team had a great sense of humour, and the daytime team were always checking up on me, even though they were extremely busy.
What could be improved
There was very little communication between wards and departments. The staff on Ward 4 didn't have the notes from MAU, and MAU weren't prepared for me entering from A&E.
