What I liked
I was admitted in oct 2006 with abdominal pain to F3. the nursing staff on the ward was very professional in their work more than i can say for the doctors. I was transfered to E3 where the doctors looking after me were not very nice.
I was misdiagnosed and discharged 3 days later only to be admitted again the next weekend with severe pain which was a small bowel obstruction. No notes were available from my previous admission and on searching for them by the surgical they were found to have been removed by whom i dont know. however my gp to this day has not had a letter about my admission the first time in oct 2006 only from the surgical team that did my surgery at the later part of oct 2006. I find this very unprofessional if someone has removed the medical information surely that is an offence. I have however kept the discharge medication evidence for myself. I would be very reluctant to go to the royal bolton hospital again if in an emergency situation after that experience.
What could be improved
A closer check to be kept on patients medical records which may prevent records being removed from notes.
Anything else?
The staff were over worked and only a skeleton staff on at peak times, this was probably due to staff illness which again is caused by understaffing of the wards.
