"Checking a broken ankle with your socks on!"

About: Worcestershire Royal Hospital

I broke my ankle on 6th September and I was asked to return for a check up on 23rd September.

The consultant asked me to walk - which I couldn't. I removed my airboot and asked if I needed to remove my sock. They said no. They then told me to practise walking and discharged me. I'm baffled how a consultant can examine a broken ankle (swelling, discolouration and bruising) with socks on. When asked when I could drive again I was told to go round the block and try an emergency stop. If I could do that, I would be ready to drive again! What about 4 hr journeys and heavy traffic? I'd hate to put other people in hospital.

Needless to say, I was not impressed with my after care.
