"I was treated in the Minor Injuries ..."

About: Mary Hewetson Cottage Hospital (Keswick)

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was treated in the Minor Injuries Unit for a possible foreign body or abrasion in my left eye, the result of an eyefull of muddy water I managed to get in it the previous day. The Receptionist was very cheerful , efficient and helpful. After a very short wait I was seen by the nurse who examined my eye skillfully, and put dye in to see if there was a scratch. She could not see anything, but did wash the eye out with saline , provided me with Chloramphenicol ointment and advised me to come back if I remained concerned. Amazingly I was in and out within an hour! The eye continued to cause some discomfort for a further 24 hours, after which the discomfort gradually disappeared, and was completely gone by 48 hours.

I was most impressed by the service which was so speedily provided. Please convey my thanks to the staff who looked after me so well.
