"Visit to childres a and e with asd son"

About: Lister Hospital

My son has asd and complex needs and has never managed to attend medical appointments or any kind of medical set up. He could see his finger was bruised and he was concerned he had broken it. I took him to a and e not really expecting him to cope but the staff were that good and helped him with waiting in another room and saw him quickly as he doesnt do well with long waits. He allowed them to X-ray the hand and entered the rooms to speak with the staff. This is something that has never been managed before and I wanted them to know what they achieved and how grateful I am as he now isnt so afraid of hospitals and has had positive experience which as a mum gives me so much peace of mind that if he did have something serious he could now attend a and e or a hospital appointment. So thank you so much x

Many thanks for getting in touch - we were delighted to read your feedback, which we know the children's A&E team will be as well when they get to read it shortly.

We do hope that your son is now feeling better.
