"Being admitted to the assessment ..."

About: Furness General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Being admitted to the assessment unit was a fairly ok experience. I was treated for a suspected clot but as i am a methadone user started to get the withering looks and one nurse said a cheery goodbye to everyone apart from me who got a dirty look.

What could be improved

I was told to return at 11 am the next day for another injection of a clot buster. I duly attended and at 3pm asked if i had to wait any longer as i had been there 4 hours when i expected to have an injection and go fairly quickly. I was then seen by a very fair police officer who was called for as far as i can see because i asked a question!

Anything else?

I was told i would be rang to tell me to come for a scan this morning...i am waiting but i do not think they will ring. As a methadone user i am constantly looked down upon by certain nurses and i am not the only one to experience this! I do not use street drugs only painkillers prescribed for me and i do not understand this attitude. In the past i have had to go to manchester general hospital for treatment as their attitude to drug users is very professional.
