I recently attended WCH as a day patient when I had a cataract operation. I had never had an operation before and was very nervous, but my whole experience was totally different to how I had envisaged it. The staff were very friendly and caring and the the ward was immaculate.
The consultant and team came to see me before the operation and explained the procedure I would undergo and answered any queries had. The consultant had a very reassuring manner and a good sense of humour which put me at my ease.
I also had a visit from the anesthetist, who explained their role in the procedure before I went into theatre.
The next thing I knew was when I was woken up and told the operation was over. I was taken back to the ward, where a nurse brought me a tray of tea and toast, which was very welcome.
I give my heartfelt thanks to all the staff who were involved in my care. It was an experience I will never forget.
