"Nothing"

About: Southport & Formby District General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Nothing

What could be improved

It did not appear that the staff had read my file properly.

The Falls assessment was incorrect. I was 67 at the time I was admitted, suffering from acute sciatica, pneumonia, urinary tract infection, and MS. I .could only walk with the aid of a stick, my balance being very poor. I was assessed as "fully mobile."

The medication given was inappropriate, causing undesirable side effects, some of which are extant.

The nursing staff did not live up to the standards to which the Trust lays claim. Calls for help from bed-bound patients were rarely answered. When I asked the elderly lady in the next bed to me why no-one complained about this to the senior staff, she said it was because they feared retaliation.

I was roughly treated myself, and physically assaulted by one nurse in particular.

I came out of this hospital far more ill than when I went in, and have , via my GP, requested the ambulance service never to take me there again.

I have made a formeal complaint to the hospital.

Anything else?

The hospital took 3 months to respond to my complaint.
