"I was referred to Manchester from ..."

About: Manchester Royal Eye Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was referred to Manchester from Bolton Eye Unit. The doctor who I saw gave me a definitive diagnosis of my condition then proceeded to explain my options in a manner that was clear and understandable. It was agreed that an operation was necessary, again pros and cons were discussed. The doctor asked me whether I would be able to undergo the operation that day. He then introduced me to the surgeon who would carry out the operation, Although nervous I was put at ease by the professional and humanisic manner in which I was treated. While waiting for my operation I shown to my room where the nursing staff were extremely attentive while carrying out routine tests before the op. The operation was completed by 7pm again theatre staff were fantastic. The doctor who completed my operation came to my room at 7.45am the following day to call me through for my first post operation examination. I was extremely impressed by all aspects of my treatment especially the dedication of staff for whom nothing was too much trouble.

What could be improved

I feel it would be hard to improve upon my experience, I cannot think of any negative aspects. To be seen from referral and then operated upon within 12 hours is excellent service.
