Attended today, a Saturday, for a spinal injection procedure. All the staff at every level were friendly and kind. especially the first two nurses to attend to me. The anaesthetist was kind, humorous and so efficient that I almost didn't feel the cannula being inserted - and they managed it first time - despite my fragile skin. There won't be a bruise there tomorrow! The surgeon today interacted with me and their colleagues as they employed their skills and my dignity was maintained despite the site of the injections!
Staff in the recovery area, were especially kind and thoughtful as I needed oxygen as were other staff whose names, unfotunately, I missed. Once back in the day ward and well rested another member of staff, once my bed had been adjusted to suit my comfort, offered and brought me a choice of hot drink and sandwich plus a jug of fresh cold water.
My carer was called to collect me by one of the senior nurses and the other one discharged me when he had arrived, informing both of us of the risks and care to be taken once home again.
Almost! an enjoyable day!
