"Aftercare of dissabled clients"

About: Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre

I am autistic and went through the peninsular for shoulder decompression.

The staggered appointments to give the impression of forwards movement in waiting lists is clever but wastefull of time. Aftercare is shocking.

The whole team were aware from day one of my issues. I also suffer with anxiety and depression.

I got operated on in july got passed to physio elsewhere; to a physio who was off on holiday. Then the peninsular gave me one good physio session, and threw me back out the door with a phone number for the first physio who had already let me down. Now I have no physio support. They offered me a steroid injection in two months time to help with the pain. Im worse off now than at the start of this ordeal 2 years ago.

We are sorry to hear that we have not met your expectations in respect of post-operative care following your operation with us in July. Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre takes patient feedback very seriously and we strive to maintain high levels of patient satisfaction at all times.

Our service is only commissioned to perform shoulder surgery which means that if post-operative physiotherapy is required we have to refer patients to a local NHS physiotherapy out-patients department.

In the event that a patient is unhappy with the service they are referred to we will arrange for the patient to be seen in our physiotherapy department. We can then ascertain what concerns the patient may have and provide appropriate treatment by liaising with the relevant physiotherapy service, who will continue to provide care beyond this appointment.

We encourage all patients to voice any concerns they might have via our official complaints procedure so that the issue can be resolved as quickly as possible. If you would like to discuss your experience with us in greater detail please contact Hospital Director Mark White (markwhite@careuk.com) or call 01752 506 070 and we will be happy to help you further.
