I spent 11 days on Promenade Ward in early June 2015 and I can honestly say that despite my willingness to change 35+ years of substance misuse my transaction from addict to being clean was made all the more easy by the understanding, compassion, humility and respect of all the staff on this ward. They work in a difficult environment with difficult people, some of who have very complicated issues, yet the empathy toward each individual is very apparent. Care is taken to include everyone in treatment there in all groups and activities without pushing. My personal needs were always met in a professional, non judgemental way and always with a smile.
The structure of the day works well.
The medical treatment is informed and delivered correctly.
The food is better than other NHS facilities I have experienced. (Always room for improvement where NHS is concerned with food).
Above all I cannot praise the staff enough.
