"Appointment rearrangement/cancellation"

About: Scunthorpe General Hospital

Just recently received a letter on a Saturday afternoon informing me I have an appointment booked for the following Monday in the Dermatology clinic, it states on the letter that I need to give 24hrs notice at a minimum if I'm unable to attend the appointment, but also says that the office number to call to inform them on as I cant attend is only open Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5pm.

Its currently Monday as I'm writing this, and right now I've been on the phone from 08:25am and its now 10am that's an hour and a half on the phone with nobody answering, this is a joke, I start work in 15 minutes and I'm unable to reach anybody.

what gets me is it says I can be thrown off the outpatients waiting list for not attending my appointment, perhaps the NHS should at least contact people to see when there free instead of sending out last minute letters for appointments that can't be met due to work commitments.

feeling really frustrated about the whole situation to say the least! considering I've been waiting about 10 weeks for this appointment.

Hi Jamie, thank you for this feedback and I'm sorry to hear you received your appointment letter so late, which is not acceptable. This is something we are currently improving at the hospital. Kind regards, Sarah Mainprize
