My husband had an appointment at 10.30 AM. This was a follow up appointment due to an AE visit on Friday. We arrived at 10.10 to find two people waiting in the reception area. The registrar that we end up seeing showed up at 10.20 and went to have a cup of tea with the other doctor on call. All good but at 10.40 they went in their room and for another 20 min they were on their mobile still having their tea. A nurse called my husband in a room to have his vision tested and after another 10 minute the registrar called my husband in. I have to stress that I do not mind waiting while the doctor is in with a patient but I consider disrespectful that we had to wait for someone who just came from home to have his 30 min tea time.
There were no apologies for the delay in seeing them and no introductions.
The registrar conducted a slit lamp test and while I do not have any medical qualifications some things are common sense and you expect the person conducting any tests to inform you when they put drops on your eyes not to mention that you expect them to wear gloves and not to open your infected eye with out washing hands first especially when they are talking to you about your eye hygiene.
The whole consultation lasted about ten minutes!
Very poor consultation, patronizing answer to my questions about my husband corneal ulcer and dismissing all my concerns with out proper tests!!!
