"Inability to stick to appointment times - rude..."

About: Wythenshawe Hospital

I have been visiting the antenatal/ultrasound department throughout my pregnancy and have experienced a ridiculous amount of problems on nearly every visit; - blood tests had to be repeated twice, firstly because my samples were lost and then again because they were not labelled properly when they reached the lab.

- staff were uncooperative when contacted regarding test results and i was simply told "if there was something wrong you would be contacted, as we haven't contacted you, i have no reason to give you the results over the phone as you don't need them" - I have never been seen at the appointment time i was given, and i have never been seen within an hour of that time. At my last appointment i was left in the waiting room for 2 and a half hours and every time i asked what the hold up was i was told i would be seen soon. When i eventually got called, the consultant took my blood pressure and then told me i could go. The appointment 4 weeks prior to that, i was left in the waiting room for over three hours, and then just given a box of aspirin with no information on why i was taking it or how much i should take.

- during an ultrasound i was told that the baby was in an awkward position and they could see nothing, but i would not be offered any more scans. When i got home i found a letter folded up in my notes that stated that the actual reason they couldn't see my baby was because of a technical fault with the ultrasound machine, my notes stated that i had been informed of this which is a complete lie. The person who saw me was rude, very snappy when my mum asked a question and then lied on my ultrasound report.

I would like to say that there is a person in the ultrasound department, who is lovely. They did my last scan and were brilliant, they gave me all the information i wanted and more. They couldn't have been more apologetic about the person i previously saw and was so so helpful. They made me feel completely at ease and i felt they were doing their job amazingly, they didn't rush my scan or make me feel like a nuisance as the previous person had. I hope they get the praise they deserve.
