"Staff who don't seem to care..."

About: Manor Hospital

After spending over 4 hours in A and E words fail me how bad our experience was. My mother in law had a fall at her care home we had a telephone call and we beat the ambulance there.

We went into A&E with the ambulance crew. Mother in law was in a wheelchair. Her top was covered in blood and she had what looked like a broken nose, two black eyes, a bump on her forehead and blood in her mouth.

The ambulance crew lifted her on to the trolley and we tried to keep her calm.

She has suffered with Dimentia for a number of years.

An orderly suggested that she may look and feel better with a clean top.He produced one. My wife and I removed the bloody top and dressed her in the clean one.

The orderly checked her blood pressure and pulse.

Eventually a doctor came and checked her breathing and heart. Looked at injuries on her face and shone a light into her eyes then went off.

After a long long time they came back went off again to we assumed to check with colleagues.

We waited again a long time eventually we found the orderly and asked whether we could take her back to the care home.

The doctor returned and said yes we could take her back.

They asked if we needed to book an ambulance which would take a few hours, so my wife and I decided to take her back in our car.

We were given a wheelchair and left to our own devices.

We eventually got her off trolley in the wheelchair but trousers were soaking and her incontinence pad was soiled. One of the nurses gave us some absorbent mats to use but the best course was to change her pad.The nurse was going to get the pad and help my wife and was going to get the car.

When I returned 10 minutes later my wife was still waiting for the pad and help.

imagine the scene a 78 year old lady with no trousers on and just a soiled pad.

I tried and tried to get any kind of assistance from doctors and nurses.

It was as if we did not exist.

Eventually after lots of pleading we got some pads and me and wife changed the pad.

My my wife mainly I did what I could.

We asked where the sluice room was so we could dispose of the waste eventually we were shown it.

We tried for 30 min with the help of an ambulance man to get her car but had to give up in the end.

We wheeled mother in law back into the hospital and booked an ambulance and waited.
