What I liked
Fabulous kindness and warmth from all the staff, from the receptionist right through to the doctor who performed the procedure on me. The staff on the day ward, pre-op, theatre and post op were all wonderful to me as was the doctor who was shadowing mine. I was treated with kindness, respect and huge generosity of spirit by all of the staff. I hope they fully understand how much they give to their patients (so much more than their job description would require).
The following day at home I felt humbled about the treatment I had received, never in my own career have I ever had the opportunity to add so much value to peoples lives as they seem to do every day.
I am totally in awe of your staff and hope they get the opportunity to see what this patient thinks about the job they do and the huge debt everyone in Britain owes to the NHS.
I've spent a lot of time in hospitals during my 56 years, mostly with sight problems, and have come across many wonderful people who work within the NHS but at Halton Day Ward I found those wonderful qualities right across the board from entry to the hospital noon right through to the moment of leaving at 5pm on the same day.
The ward also had the cleanest toilets I've come across in any hospital. If I was not on Incapacity Benefit due to sight problems I would love to send your hospital a large cheque to support the wonderful job everyone is doing, but as you can guess £89 per week doesn't go very far and am using my savings just to get by.
So I can only say THANK YOU to everyone I came across from the bottom of my heart.
When you get home tonight look in the mirror and remind yourselves of HOW SPECIAL YOU ARE, despite the fact that your salaries in no way relect the enormous contribution you make to so many peoples lives.
THANK YOU ALL
DAVID RYLETT
What could be improved
Perhaps a little more Post Op info regarding things such as when it's okay to start showering again, whether the spray on skin will come off in the shower or when drying yourself etc. But compared with the box above this is small beer.
