"I have a second chance"

About: Good Hope Hospital / Accident & emergency Good Hope Hospital / Cardiology Heartlands Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

In June 2015 at 10 pm I started to have pains in my Left breast. A little uncomfortable now and again going through to my back. All night all I wanted to do was rub my Breast. In the morning I was sick.

Thinking this was the sickness virus the Grandchildren had-had. Then after a shower rang the Doctors appox 9 am. Could not get an appointment. Then my daughter said go to A & E. We arrived there at 9.20am- was seen by a doctor who could not find what was wrong.

Then a nurse came in and asked what was happening. I explained- the nurse put me on an ECG machine then repeated the test. Then said has anyone told you what is happening! You are having a Heart Attack, the nurse gave me an Asprin and pain relief. Told me they were Blue Lighting me to the Heartlands, where they were waiting for me. I was taken into theatre and had 2 stents put in where there was blockages.

I owe Trevor So much. Thank God he was there. I had excellent care at Good Hopes A&E Excellent care at the Heartlands. Then returned to Good Hope CCU where I also had excellent care. I owe them my life. I have a second chance. NO money can buy that.

I just hope my after care is as excellent. I would like to say a big thank you to all the Doctors Surgeons Nurses, Staff Nurses for all your care. You were Golden. Also Trevor from A & E you deserve a reward as you were the one who started the ball rolling, Bless you All.

Dear Blondy

Thank you so much for providing your comments about your experience at Good Hope Hospital in June of this year.

I do hope you are recovering well following the events of that day, I am sure you will never forget them. I am so pleased to read that you felt you received excellent care throughout your treatment and stay.

I will ensure that your comments are forwarded to Trevor Nesbitt, Cardiac Nurse - Chest Pain Assessment Practitioner, and to Dr Ola Erinfolami, Clinical Director for Emergency Services as well as Dr Michael Pitt, Clinical Director for Cardiology, and Heidi Lane, Matron for Cardiology, who will all ensure that your comments and thanks are communicated to all of the teams involved in your care.

I do hope this is acceptable, and would like to once again thank you for taking the time to provide your very important patient feedback.

I wish you well in your continued recovery.

Kind regards

Marie Helebert
