"Poor service at sexual health clinic"

About: NHS Bradford Districts CCG

(as a parent/guardian),

With all the publicity about teenage pregnancies my daughter wanted to do the right thing and take precautions and asked her GP for contraception, she asked for latex-free condom and was referred to the sexual health clinic at Bevan House as the GP could only prescribe latex condoms.

We live quite a way away from Bevan house, getting there on public transport is expensive and time consuming – it was a rush getting there after her college had finished. When we did get there we were told they did not keep many latex-free condoms in stock and the last few had been given out earlier that day and she would need to come back on another day.

A member of staff at Bevan House said GPs were sending more and more people to the sexual health clinics but could not say why. The member of staff also said they could only give 12 condoms at a time without saying how often they could be collected.

Why can’t Bevan house have a bigger stock and why can’t the GP prescribe latex free condoms?
