I was referred to this unit by my optician and was surprised how quickly I got my appointment.
I had a dye injected into a vein procedure and a retinal scan on two different visits.
I had the second visit changed to a Sunday following a telephone call asking if I wanted this.
I thought the reception staff were very quick, helpful and friendly.
The other staff from nurses to Doctors seemed just like any other NHS dept I have visited.
I did not feel that any especially good conduct was given just the norm and what I expected.
I did not feel that I was especially asked about my reason for being there or being a part of my treatment, it was just "administered".
Overall I appreciated the speed of the appointment from referal and for me this is what made the whole experience noteworthy.
If waiting times come down thats all you can ask in the overstretched NHS.
I think the weekend clinics are an excellent idea and the way forward, just wish my GP was as accomodating.
NB: In my opinion, this hospital has performed better than Salford Royal consistantly and I have been to both on quite a few occasions in recent years.
