"Since the A&E Dept was closed ..."

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

Since the A&E Dept was closed in Burnley, myself and my husband had heard one or two negative comments about Blackburn Royal. However, when my husband was admitted last week, we were both very pleasantly suprised with the care and expertise shown to us by all nursing and medical staff we came accross. The hospital itself is state of the art, very well laid out and very clean. The level of care was excellent. Two members of staff particularly stood out to us during my husbands 5 day stay. A nurse on the Assessment Unit and a nurse on Ward C10 were both excellent. Both nurses went out of their way to help us feel at ease and to explain everything that was happening. We felt we were kept fully informed of treatment/diagnosis etc and both nurses took time to ensure we understood correctly what the doctors had discussed with us. They were both very professional while at the same time being friendly, warm and caring. We would like to send our heartfelt thanks to them both and would be grateful if hospital management could pass this on for us. From start to finish, the entire experience was a positive one.

What could be improved

The only downside we found was the parking facilities. Trying to park or leave the carpark at peak times (2pm and 5pm) was a nightmare. On several occasions it took 10-15 minutes to get from our parking space to the exit.

Anything else?

Thank you once again to everyone concerned.
