About: Manchester Royal Eye Hospital

Ridiculous! 5 hour wait every visit. I take my elderly mother and majority of patients elderly. They treat the elderly badly at this department. If you ask about the wait, the answer is always the same, '"the consultant is dealing with an emergency". If that's the case then the hospital should stagger appointments better or ensure there are more consultants. It's disgusting.

We are sorry to learn that you and your mother had such a long wait at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and that this seems to be a recurring situation and an experience that is not as positive as we would wish for patients at the Macular Treatment Centre. It is important to us that comments are heard and seen as an opportunity provided to the service to make changes and improvements wherever possible.

In response to your comment, I can assure you that we are reviewing the appointment systems within the Macular service and considering how we can make improvements. Your concerns have also been raised directly with the department and staff involved so that they can reflect on how to best keep patients informed of the waiting times during clinic sessions and the reason for any delays.
