Having my first baby was a huge life changer and being the only parent in our social circle made it quite a lonely new life and with the decision to breastfeed my baby it could have quite easily stayed that way. I am really thankful to live so close to Pleasley Hill Children's Centre because without this service I for one would be having a much tougher time adapting to motherhood, and I'm not sure I could have coped with Breastfeeding for so long either.
From the first visit when I registered myself and my baby to the sessions I regularly attend and even the Parent Forum group that I am starting to get involved in the staff and service users have been a warm and welcoming face when the days get tough. I've been given the opportunity to meet other Mums, to vent when everyday life is getting on top of me and I can sit and feed in comfort with staff always on hand to offer a a glass of water to keep me going.
Being able to breastfeed publicly in such a nurturing environment has really helped me to gain confidence in feeding my baby whilst out and about which has made a huge difference to my confidence in taking my baby out and getting a much needed change of scenery on a daily basis. The stay and play sessions and the new baby massage classes are a weekly favourite and give me the chance to chat with other Mums and both myself and my baby are making great friends!
