"1 indifferent nurse doesn't spoil an excellent..."

I fell off my motorcycle 2 weeks ago maneuvering at 4mph! Hit the top of my windshield as I fell with the bike and needed 8 stitches just under my eye which were done with patience and precision by the consultant on duty. Face was a total mess for a week but gradually calmed down to the point where it was time to have the stitches removed. I'd left a large piece of gauze in place over the stitches as this had soaked up a fair bit of blood and was, by the time I returned to the hospital, stuck solid to the area around the stitches. When I went to have the stitches out, a nurse came in, poked around the stitches, advised me that 'this is going to hurt', grabbed a piece of hardened gauze, pulled it off the wound ,which really did hurt, and then just said 'oh' as the gauze pulled the skin away and re-opened the wound. The nurse then told me that maybe I should have soaked it before coming in. Well, maybe, as a nurse, they should have known what effect their actions were going to have, and perhaps should have taken a little time to soak it to soften it instead of just pulling it off. I stopped the nurse from further input and asked for something to soak the gauze to soften it. I was given sterile tissues and fluid and did this myself. I asked a passing doctor to come into the room. The doctor looked at the injury and advised the nurse that the doctor would remove the stitches,once the gauze had softened and been removed. In the meantime the nurse calmly walked out of the room and didn't return.Because the nurse in effect re-opened the wound by being careless, and in doing so undid the excellent work done by the consultant. I now have a scar below my eye which wouldn't have been there had the nurse put a little thought into what they were doing.
