"The Care that I received on the ..."

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The Care that I received on the Surgery Triage Unit by the initial Drs and nurses on the night staff.

What could be improved

Everything on ward C18 the ward I was transferred to. I was totally disgusted with the way I was treated from the moment I arrived to the moment I left. The way I spoken to by nurses and the student Drs was totally disgusting like they knew everything and I knew nothing. I had to wait over 12 1/2hrs to eat something even though I am a diabetic just because they couldn't get a Dr to look at my scan results. When I asked about this there comment was don't worry you wont starve there are plenty of sandwiches in the fridge, even though I had my own food with me as I was in with problems regarding my eating and could only eat certain things. I was in absolute agony and thought that would be the best place to be as if I needed stronger pain relief I'd get it, or that's what you would think. I am a complicated case as I already take very strong pain medication and was basically told they couldn't give me anything stronger. I was totally honest with them and told them that animals would not be treated like the way I was being treated for pain. In the end I was given an option to either wait in hospital for a CT scan or go home so I decided to go home as I might as well suffer at home with family around me than in hospital with strangers. Moving from patient to patient without basic hygiene e.g washing of hands even though there is handwash beside every patients bed. Basically all I can say is I have had to send in a letter of complaint for the way I was treated by this ward and the way I spoken to by a Dr the morning after on the other ward.
