"I had to go to A&E on a Saturday ..."

About: York Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I had to go to A&E on a Saturday afternoon recently after suffering a fall. I had expected to wait at least 2 hours (as the sign said), but was taken through within 5 minutes, given a full examination and treated in the space of an hour. The staff were very friendly and responded to my concerns fully. A&E is a highly stressful area to work in and I admired the professionalism that all staff demonstrated.

What could be improved

The Reception staff got my details wrong when I first arrived. I had to go back to the desk to amend a few things. Only a very minor issue really: everything else was of a high quality.

Anything else?

I am not from the York area, so being an outsider and a former NHS employee I was impressed by the standard of service at York Hospital. I hope I never have to visit it again, but if I do I know I will be in safe hands. I am grateful to all the staff who dealt with me.
