"5 hours.."

About: Chorley & South Ribble Hospital

I visited A&E at Chorley on Sunday evening about 10pm due to a cycling accident in which i'd damaged my wrist, check in was great and the receptionist was lovely, i sat and waited about 15 minutes before being called in by the triage nurse, again who was absolutely lovely and chatty. They sent me for an x-ray, again this was straight away as no one else was waiting for one. Then i was told to go and sit back in the waiting room to be told my results.. 4 hours later.. after watching more and more people being called back who had been x-rayed after me, we were the only ones left when an unfriendly doctor called me into a room and told me nothing was broken, then the doctor poked around at my arm and asked me why they hadn't x-rayed my wrist? (surely thats not my fault) and then sent me for another x-ray on my wrist, then i waited a further 35 minutes to be called in to tell me that it was too swollen to really tell how bad it is and then i was gonna get bandaged up and have to return on Thursday.. which i am not looking forward too.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback and for your kind comments about the reception and nursing staff. I was sorry to hear that your experience was marred by the length of time you were kept waiting to be seen and by the attitude of the doctor who then saw you. I have passed your comments on to the Clinical Director for the Emergency Department to enable him to address this matter with the doctor concerned.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us of your experience when you recently attended the Emergency Department at Chorley Hospital. Whilst it was extremely pleasing to read your positive comments about the reception and nursing staff, we were disappointed to hear that your experience was marred by the waiting time and the attitude of the doctor. Please be assured that your comments have been shared with the Clinical Director for the department.
