My mother is 98 years old. She is diagnosed with Alzheimers and has many other physical conditions. My father (93 yrs old) and I care for her here at home. In January 2015, she was officially diagnosed with Dysphagia, and we received a follow up visit by Speech and Language Therapist, Crystal, recently.
Mothers swallowing/eating situation is critical, and I prepare all my mothers food and drink. I thought I'd been doing a pretty good job, however Crystal gave invaluable, informed advice and hands on instruction on how to improve my food preparation to make mother's quality of life/health easier and gentler on her system. Some of what she said at the time seemed a little overly specific, but in hindsight everything that was suggested, now makes perfect sense and is most effective. Thank you, Crystal.
