After my interview to discuss medical problems and medication, I was shown to a bed to await my colonoscopy by a very caring nurse, I was prepared to have sedation then I was told, sedation would not be possible as there was no one with me, I wanted to go home instead of having my procedure, but two or three of the nursing staff convinced me there was nothing to fear, as quite a lot of people who arrive alone go without sedation, I relented and said I would carry on , but when I reached the theater I again had second thoughts and asked to leave , the doctor in charge approached me, and they assured, and reassured me that all would be well , and said they would abandon the procedure at my say so, thankfully I went ahead with it . I will never have to have sedation again, everything was explained as it happened some polyps were removed , and I was more able to understand the whole procedure and I was in recovery for just a little while, the doctor, and all of the staff were caring, considerate, polite, yet extremely professional. I can not commend the nursing staff and doctor highly enough.
