"Good service"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / General Surgery

(as the patient),

Recently I was an inpatient at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. I was very pleased with the way I was treated. The nurses on Ward 301 introduced themselves and after getting some paperwork done I was given a welcome jug of water (just like every patient on the ward - refilled on a regular basis).

The meals I was given were good, well cooked. I really liked getting the chance of a supper. Plenty tea/coffee through out the day as well.

I got my hand tested the next morning and the nurse was really good at her job. My operation went without a hitch and I was impressed with the attention to detail of the people carrying out the operation re keeping my arm sterile. The only thing I would like to have seen was name badges - is there a health reason why they aren't used? I forgot the name of the first nurse almost as soon as he said it and looked in vain for a name badge.

Dear Milktray

Many, many thanks for taking the time to post your feedback. It is great for staff to hear that they are doing a good job. They will appreciate hearing about your experiences in Ward 301.

There is no clinical reason for staff not to wear name badges, quite the opposite. NHS Grampian policy states that all staff must wear a visible name badge at all times. I am sure the Senior Charge Nurse in the area will note your comments and work with the staff to ensure this poicy is adhered to.

I hope your hand is better now and thank you again for your kind words and constructive criticism.

Kindest regards
