"Communication needs to greatly ..."

About: Northern General Hospital

(as the patient),

What could be improved

Communication needs to greatly improve between both the Nurses and Doctors on Firth 5, they need to stop blaming one another.

Anything else?

was recently in Firth 5 overnight on Monday 17th (thankfully).

However by the time my wife came to visit me at 2pm on Tuesday 18th I explained to her how fed up I was.

I had been nil by mouth since 4am waiting for a examination to take place.

After the examination at 5pm the Doctors told me I can go home and eat & drink again.

When I mention this to the nurses they had no idea that I could go home or that the examination had been done.

Then I find the Nursing staff had no idea I was on Warfarin and so had not had my INR test done,so of course the nurse blamed the Doctors even though I had passed all my meds to nursing staff upon addmission and I know that Doctor I saw in the SAU did note down all my meds.

Eventually a Doctor on call came to take my blood at 7pm then eventually after visiting time had ended I at last got my INR result and told how much Warfarin to take that night.

Overall not a pleasent time in that ward, I hope management will train it's staff to communicate better!
