About: The Royal Victoria Infirmary

i have chronicsciatic pai ib my back and down my right leg. i had an apppointment with a nurse who didnt really seem to care at all.i was told that they would feed back the information back to the consultant and get back to me. i rang two days ago and told i was discharged froom the service without beiing told and my dr could help me and a letter was sent there. my dr referered me because they couldnt help me as they cover general medicine (g.p) and is not specialist in that field. i really dot know what to do. ive had two ops already and still suffer from bad pains and spasms and cramps and wanted help to try and try out different medication. they obviously didnt care and passed the buck. what do you really do pain managment team?

Thank you for taking the time to post your review on NHS Choices. Firstly may we offer our apologies if the service you have received from the Pain Management Team has not met with your expectations.

Our Pain Management Team make every effort to deal with patients in a caring, compassionate and approachable manner and they will be very saddened to hear that this has not been your impression during consultations, for which we offer our unconditional apologies. We are also sorry if you did not receive a copy of the letter sent to your GP about the outcome of your clinic appointment and future plan of care. We will take this opportunity to remind our administration team of their duties in this regard.

On a public website, it is difficult to comment on your specific experience and address the issues that you have raised. However, we would be very keen to discuss this with. We can facilitate this either by you contacting Nurse Consultant Williams who would be happy to discuss your concerns personally with you if you wanted to contact the Unit directly. Alternatively you may wish to discuss your concerns with our Patient Relations team on 0191 2231382.
