"Our great NHS"

About: The Royal Victoria Infirmary

Lovely staff. Excellent treatment and information. The only thing I did notice, and because I was walking wounded .I could help, was that it would have been helpful for some of the patients if there had been a WRVS volunteer or other such person to give them some company and support. This would apply in the main to the elderly patients who seemed to be in the majority as the night wore on and also seem to been brought in as a result of falls in their home and were. alone.

I did not notice anything about same sex accommodation - not relevant in my case

We would like to thank you for your positive comments regarding your attendance in Emergency Department at the RVI and assure you they will be shared with the staff involved. May we take this opportunity to explain that we do have a number of volunteers who work in the department providing support to the patients in the department and waiting room, however due to the nature of volunteer positions are not available around the clock. These roles are very valuable and we are actively expanding the number of volunteers so we can provide this support across the day.

With regards to same sex accommodation we can reassure that all patients that are admitted to hospital base wards, are located in single sex accommodation.
