"Doctors vs nurses"

I had surgery in July of this year. The consultant I had been seeing was not available for my pre op so I was seen by other staff members. They had not seen my scans and proceeded to tell me it would be a quick operation and a short recovery. They said it would last 3 hours and I'd be on the ward by the afternoon. In reality my operation lasted 10 hours and I spent a night on the ICU ward. The nurses were lovely but had to wait for a doctor to come in and agree with what they wanted to do. I would ask in the morning to have a tube removed, they would say that's fine but we'd have to wait for the doctor to say the exact same thing in the afternoon before it happened. The toilets were not cleaned while I was there and on leaving again the nurse had to wait for the doctor to fill out the forms. It's difficult not to get confused when you're told completely different things by each person you see. A little more consistency would make a scary experience a lot better rather than 10 people seeing you and each saying something different.
