I have three children all seen by the Rheumatology department. We have received no letter at all following the first visit and have given up pestering for the rest.
Recently my daughter developed severe pain in her back which would not ease off even with pain relief and hot water bottles. We called and were told to take her to A&E. A&E said she needed to go back to the specialist so we phoned Ormand Street again.
I chased them every single day and was promised my daughter's case was being reviewed and to call back that friday. I did this and was told that she hadn't been discussed at all! They then said she would be discussed the following week and that I would be contacted.
None of this happened!
She has spent 8 weeks in agony and her regular scheduled appointment is now due in a couple of days. I simply don't understand how a Children's hospital can leave a child to suffer so much without as much as a phone call with some advice!
You end up giving up as you just don't have the energy to keep fighting in the end. Ah well, I hope we get some answers soon.
Oh, and there is no choice on the pull down menu for the rheumatology department
"Lovely staff, but such poor communication"
