"A&E visit"

About: John Radcliffe Hospital

I went to A&E as per advice given by 111 following a wasp sting to the back of my head. I must say the staff were excellent and very efficient despite the long waiting times which are typically to be expected in a busy A&E department.

The only thing that made me feel a bit uncomfortable was that the triage nurse and doctor refused to give me anything for the pain I was experiencing. Other than this, I felt reassured and in safe hands as I was given a thorough assessment and excellent home care tips before I was discharged.

The reception staff were also very friendly and professional and they made me feel very welcome and comfortable throughout my time in A&E.

Please pass on my thanks and concerns about pain relief. Thank you.

Our apologies for the delay in replying to your comments. Thank you for providing this feedback. It is great to hear that you found our staff helpful and that you felt reassured. It is also great to know that you were provided with appropriate aftercare advice as we aim to give our patients a complete service here at OUH. We're sorry to hear that your pain was not dealt with in the way we would expect, we will certainly pass on your concerns to the department managers. Thank you once again for taking the time to let us know how your experience was.
