I don't have much experience with hospitals but this really did feel like something from the Victorian era.

I called PAL who weren't helpful as they suggested I could speak to the ward directly.

The things I experienced seemed common place, but I really don't think they should be.

I don't want to complain or sue anyone, I just think we could do better.

I personally can tolerate unappetising food, changing my own bed clothes, but I really don't think I should have to badger people for my medication

Several other patients’ urine & faces samples in the bathrooms lined up in the shower, still in the toilet bowl, on top of the bins. Several times I had to ask for someone to remove them as I couldn't get in the shower.

I have pictures.

Never ever getting my medication on time, surely this is fundamental! Constantly asking, standing on at the front desk until someone would give it to me.

Drip pump stopping before the medication had finished and they removed it.

My own blood backing right up into the drip, calling for assistance and having to wait 20 to 30 minutes for someone to remove it.

Missing entire doses as they can't find anyone to put a catheter in, cant get hold of my medicine or they just seemed to busy, or didn't think it was important to try to stick to the prescribed times.

My hydration chart completely falsified, no urine or vomit samples collected.

4 out of 12 days, I didn't see a consultant and saw at least 7 different people, some most definitely students, who knew nothing about my treatment.

Day 7 someone coming to change my bedclothes, I said I'd already changed them three times.

They told me I wasn't allowed to change them myself, and insisted that The Hospital changed them everyday.

But that was the first time anyone had come to change them.

Moved to a ward, then a room, then asked to leave the room, then given another room, then told by an auxiliary nurse in front of other patients that I shouldn't be out of my room as I was infectious. The nurse did apologise when I made a fuss.

Another nurse came in and asked me if I was barrier although I'm not sure what that means, I was using the same facilities as everyone else and there were no precautions for my visitors.

In total I had 7 catheters in 12 days most needing a minimum of three attempts for each one.

Conclusion

Can we please stick to the basics, please just let me have my medication.

This is just a small portion of my concerns, I have photographs, copies of my medication chart.
