I discovered a breast lump and was referred by my GP to Milton Keynes breast care unit.
My appointment for assessment happened in just over a week from referral.
The whole assessment, which included a mammogram, ultrasound scan and biopsy, took less than 2 hours.
The staff were lovely - efficient, kind and respectful.
I waited another 2 weeks for my results consultation.
Unfortunately, the lump was confirmed malignant but my consultant was very reassuring about its treatabilty and explained everything clearly. Two weeks later I had a lumpectomy to remove the tumour.
This was done as a a day surgery procedure - I went in at 7.15am and left about 1pm.
The whole experience was a very positive one?
Staff all wonderful, everything clean and efficiently run. My surgeon has done a first class job and just 4 weeks later, the incision mark is almost invisible.
Im now awaiting a course of radio therapy at Linford Wood and feeling very positive.
I cannot speak highly enough about the unit and am grateful to the lovely staff!
The worst thing is the waiting for results but once you are in the system you know you are in good hands.
