What I liked

The staff on Ward 9 should be praised for their kindness and care given to the patients on this ward. The staff here were very attentive and clearly made a stay in hospital as comfortable as possible. The catering staff were excellent and allowed for flexibility in what they provided -which can be key to feeling well once again.

What could be improved

I was appauled at the lack or resource to clean, this is not a lack of commitment by the staff, a lack or resource. In my limited 3 day stay I was disgusted to realise that the bathroom shared on the ward had not been cleaned in 3 days. Given that all patients in the ward at the time had stomach upsets through one reason or another the state of the loo was appauling, filthy & dirty. The seat was wiped down, and that was the only loo/bathroom cleaning undertaken during my stay. I would have though more care or time should be allocated to this task as a minimum to stop the spread of bacteria. Once again I praise the staff for their kindness but would not visit again due to the hygiene standards of cleaning of personal facilities.

The Trust places great importance on maintaining high standards of cleanliness across all our sites and we are concerned to note the comments made. These will be brought to the attention of the relevant staff and remedial action will be taken where neccessary.
