Firstly I would like to praise all the maternity staff at QA, I had the best diabetic midwives looking after me during my pregnancy, my beautiful twin girls were unfortunately stillborn at 26 weeks, I had a scan on Christmas eve 2014 and was told there were no heartbeats, I was taken to the nightingale suite and given a tablet to induce labour. I was in shock but all staff were very supportive and explained why and what they had to do throughout. A bereavement midwife was amazing and empathetic, went above and beyond the call of duty to drive home on Christmas day to get 2 memory boxes for my girls
I gave birth on boxing day, my midwife was fantastic, they cleaned and dresses my tiny babies, even found two tiny bonnets for them. My community midwife was also extremely professional and supportive during my pregnancy. Now considering the shortage of staff over the Christmas holidays and the pressure the maternity ward was under I never felt unsupported or that I was not being taken care off, I am shocked at some of these reviews left on here as in my opinion I have nothing but praise for the staff that took care of me from the start to the devastating end. Bereavement services and mortuary should not be forgotten either as they were also generous with their time and support.
I would highly recommend this hospital with its amazing staff and facilities to anyone.
