About: Cumberland Infirmary

I was admitted via ambulance to rule out a bleed in the brain, I suffer from ehlers danlos syndrome, a serious life threatening condition, this hospital is nothing but trouble, I was given the quickest scan on my brain and waited bout four and a half hours for the result, they said scan was ok, I was given I fluids and was seen by respiratory doc, not sure why. nurses on the admissions ward were great, but was sent home the following day with a discharge letter from a consultant who had signed it but had not been anywhere near me, icing on the cake was the diagnosis, migraine, stress related, I sent the letter back and cheeky sent it back with same diagnosis on it. I have a small brain aneurysm and a large arachnoid granulation which gives me severe pain, also my condition makes me prone to vascular ruptures, I have sent the letter back and am just waiting for their next step. they cant even make their minds up about the aneurysm, some docs say its there, some say not, but yet when I was on the ward they said it was a one, but yet diagnosis - migraine, I really don't know where they get their doctors from, they are so incompetent.

Thank you for alerting the Trust to this in A&E. Patient confidentiality is something we take very seriously and I am very sorry to hear of your experience.

I will inform the A&E manager and Matron of your experience and will ensure they discuss it with the staff and re-emphasis the importance of confidentiality, dignity and respect. In addition I'll ask them to monitor this to ensure it does not happen again.

Thank you for taking the time to post this

Helen
