This was my first ever stay in hospital for an operation of any type. From the minute I arrived on the ward the morning of my operation to the minute I was wheeled out of the door after 4 days I was put at total ease by the amazing staff who worked there.
Although I am in the emergency services myself, I never realised how hard the staff work from HCA to the nurses, nothing was ever too much trouble and everything was done with a smile on their faces.
People always stand out and I didn't really get everyone's names, after feeling sick post General anaesthetic they made me some food in the night which did the trick and made me feel better and apart from the staff being hard working brought laughter to my face. There was another nurse who was on the receiving end of me being upset and they were lovely about it - doesn't know me from Adam yet treated me like a friend.
I can't forget the two nurses who tended to me when I was first wheeled back into the ward, Sadly I don't know their names but I'm sure if they get my name that will know who they are - they were amazing, caring and compassionate.
I can't forget the lovely nurse in recovery, who was great, I had a couple of problems when I came round from surgery and they helped straight away, they even stopped to chat to me on the ward a few days later when they delivered another patient - they didn't have to but did.
My traumatic stay on the ward was 100% made better by the people I came into contact with.
I hope never to have to return to the ward for more surgery but if I did I would be totally at ease
Thank you all who helped me
